Can some one please help!!!

I have a Kalt GS Alpha that has been converted to a belt driven tail, I would like to convert it back to wire drive but I am missing the bearing block with bearings and bevel gear the drives from the main Gear.

Does anyone have one of these? or a crashed model for spares?

If it helps, i can tell you that the one for the Baron30 should also be exactly the same dimensions wise (including the bevel gear).Early Alpha (glow) versions used an all aluminium block then switched to plastic(like the Baron30) to help with wire drive related glitch problems i think or maybe just because they were lighter.Anyway it should make finding one a little less limited

n.b I haven't owned a GS version ,but if it uses the same block dimension as the Alpha glow(which i think it does) then the one for the Baron30 wire drive version will do the same job.

Perhaps they have a different ratio for the gassers tail then.The 30Baron is the one shown in this photo here.It's a 15tooth bevel gear which i think gave a main to tail ratio of 4.6:1 if i remember rightly
.My old AlphaII (which i don't have anymore so can't check) i think may have been about 5:1 tail ratio (faster tailspeed).But it could be being done in the tailgearbox.I thought i once compared the 30 and Alpha 60 bevel gears once,whilst i still had both machines but i may be mistaken

The maingears are all the same though AFAIK on the top rack except the 30Baron used a cheaper injection moulded gear rather than the more expensive machine cut as used on the 60's.Maybe the Gasser maingear is different on it's rack gear teeth too but i didn't think it was.

can you post a picture as I'm sitting on a load of Kalt stuff and I think there is that thing there.
My GS has a 5.2 tail ratio and has a gearbox at the front and rear.
Also use a 5mm fibreglass shaft and bearings plus a century falcon tail box.............much better tail control.

Hey, I bought an Kalt gasser yesterday, its tube driven. I thought belt drive was better and was thinking of a conversion. Why do you want to change it?

Do you mean 2mm piano wire drive on that GS baron?
If you do look out as this twists up in the boom and fails, had this twice lifting of before I changed to a 5mm fibre rod.......fits kalt drive bits so you just need to make up two bearing supoorts for inside the boom.

Belt drive

The main reason I wanted to change back was that I have a black anodised alloy tail rotor gearbox, same as the head.

Do you think belt would be better?

I have had 2 belts fail on a shuttle in the past?

Revman, please post picīs on it, thanks for the tip.

After flying it this weekend, and really enjoying it, I took it to pieces for a compete check up. Glad I did! The tail boom was cracked! Everything else was fine, and after some cleaning and oiling of the bearings itīs like new again.

I belive the boom is 21,5mm outer dia right? I am going to try a cut down JR Vigor boom (22mm) to see if that works.

Where can you get parts for a heli like this? A spindle and a main mast would be great to have, and offcourse a boom!

ok thanks ,if i ever decide to sell it i will give you first offer,i also have a baron 60 ex which im flying at the moment,which i will fit in a bell 222 fuselage at some stage,i have not flown the gs alpha yet,just waiting for a gyro to arrive,and to fit servos etc,and need to renew some linkages,will post some picture soon,joe......
