My Posts This: Topic Forum | I just got my paws on the Trex and would like to share my thoughts. Overall I'm so happy with it I could praise God. 100% of the electronics as well as the motor were borrowed from my now skeleton of a Shogun.
I'm using Hitec HS56HB servos all around. They seem to have plenty of torque and enough speed for heart pounding maneuvers. The 56HB's ride high in their mounts and unlike the HS50/55's the horns have plenty of clearance from the frame. Use a finger drill to modify the mounts for the 56HB'S. Other electronics include a hitec electron 6 rx, PHX 25 esc, Gy 240, and some cheap 4200 kv brushless called the mega 15 (which I don't belive to be made by mega as it is from Taiwan, not the CZ.) It works fine though and stays cool. Battery in use is a t.p. 3 cell 2100 mah.
The construction is easy enough if you have built a similar heli but the manual sucks big time! English translation is a Google search away. All the parts are bagged in a step by step form so if you have a screw or other piece left over then you know something is wrong. All parts seem to be very sturdy yet slightly heavy. There seems to be quite a bit of slop in certain parts of the head such as the mixer arms and so on. Everything has been tightened as far as I could without stripping out the screws. Dispite this problem everything seems to fly fine.
The maiden flight was spectacular! 40% neg. expo was used on the cyclic to tame it down a bit. The Trex seems to handle the wind pretty darn well. In conclusion I've gone from an angry Shogun owner to a happy Trex flyer. |
