My Posts This: Topic Forum | DON’T DO IT!!!I have recently bought both a Zoom AND a T-Rex (I just happened to finish building the Zoom first), and a friend of mine called Darran has just bought a T-Rex.
Last night was the first opportunity to fly together (in fact it was Darran’s T-Rex’s first flight EVER).
We were both using a Kokam 1500 3 cell pack, Phoenix 10, and Model Motors 1215/20. By all accounts, neither heli should have performed well with that power source.
But the Zoom was a dream to fly, with bags of power available. Darran’s Rex lifted and flew “hands-off” on its very first flight, and was immensely stable. The audience at the local heli club was very impressed.
Without the 450X upgrade kit there was a fair bit of whine from the tail, but other than that the only issue was the Rex’s stock blades – they’re truly ‘orrible, like bendy thick heavy plastic rulers!
I was using SABs on my Zoom, and they alone convinced Darran to go out and buy a pair today and to keep the stock Rex ones as spares.
So while I think the idea of them being repairable is a good one (and could help keep costs down), I’d simply rather fly with better blades, which may help stop you from crashing in the first place!
In short, they’ll fit, but I don’t think it’ll be pretty!

PS - I can give my Rex blades a go on my Zoom and report back properly at some point, but I'll be putting my redundant Zoom foamies on the Rex at the earliest possible opportunity - they're much better. |
