I have flew my Raptor50V2 now five times and I have crashed two...

Well the bad things:

1.The orginal rudder linkage sucks, the split is jumping off and you loose the controll and the heli crashes. (Remember to use a lot of lock tite!)
2. The tail rotor hub sucks, it has jumped off tree times for me now, and once it made my heli to crash. (I added A LOT of lock tite round the tail hub and it has not loosend after that, but I can't get it off any more eighter! )
3. I'v got some sloopies in the upper main shaft bearing, I can rick it sideways inside the plastic.

Plastic is fantastic! lol...

When talking about crash kits, yes, but part for part there isnt much in it

One thing that isnt very good is the canopy mounting method on the Evo, and the poor cooling ducting, easily fixed

The raptor doesnt seem to be as locked in (when observing it), and some parts seem poorly made, like the TR gear box

All this talk about the ****ty T/R case, I have had my raptor for well over a year with more flights than I can count, It has been upgraded from a 30 to a 50.

In the time that i have had it I have nearly rebuilt it entirely, BUT:

- I have never cracked a tail case
-Broken a tail rotor
- I did find a screw loose once on the T/R grips
-Replaced the T/R shaft once becuase I felt like I should given the circumstance, but the tail blades were still in-tact

Also some experiences:

-Its needed a new frame from an extremely rough landing
-Had have 4 sets of Gear on it, including the Dura Struts(which I broke as well)
-4 or 5 main shafts/ and spindles
-4 clutches (only cause I became retarded for a short period and forgot to switch models on my radio before starting)

Never broke a servo frame
My main shaft hub locked once, but upon inspection it was rusted together, a little grease and wd40 fixed that.

- I too have that clicking noise in the head, however it only occurs when I flex a certain blade up and down. the other blades doesnt do it. Never effected me in flight however....

Another thing is with the TT Tail servo mount for near the boom, the placement of the servo allows exhaust to enter the servo and ate up most of the grease inside my 9253 causing binding. Again i fixed, but still annoying.

Ohh also I dont know which raptor kit was mentioned before but mine didnt come with a muffler, nor have I seen it with one. Heli proz sells them with mufflers but they are not part of the kit (that I am aware of)

And one more thing. if need be to remove the engine, the carbon base plate makes it a PAIN to remove the engine. without the base plate all you do is unscrew the engine and muffler and it drops right out.... but with the base plate you have to remove the landing gear also making you take out twice the amount of screws

There is one other neagative think i know about the Raptor and that is the tail hub. My friend was flying a couple of weekends ago and his tail hub snapped in half in the middle of a flight, It left him with one tail blade and a VERY high speed pirroette!

He hit the ground very hard! and caused over £300 worth of damge and that is just because a £4.99 taill hub snapped! - and he did not over tighten any of the grub screws!!

He also knows someone at his other club who had about 6 tail hub failures in about 6 months.

Evo

My Evo is about a yr old and I haven't replaced anything so far. It's been the best heli I've owned and I tried them all Remember, some issues that heli's have are do to the builder.

Sorry to jump in but wanted to address the TR breaking. when you are putting the tail together you need to be careful and not over-tighten the lock nut that secures the grub screw. when you over tighten the nut it puts too much stress on the screw and then breaks while flying. I have had my raptor 50 over a year with one tail problem and that was because i over tightened the lock nut.
