My Posts This: Topic Forum | Been flying both for about 3 years. Crashed them both an equal number of times. Negatives for the Raptor are few considering what it is - an inexpensive, easy to build, fly and maintain r/c heli. I really can't bash the Raptor 50 except to say its performance envelope is narrow when compared to the EVO 50.
For the EVO, I concur with most all the negatives mentioned, plus two more: One, the aluminum center hub (0412-105) will most likely have to be replace after a couple of crashes. The Raptor's hub will take numerous crashes before needing to be replace.
Also, the EVO is heavier and does not auto as well as Raptor, especially inverted autos.
Another way to look at it is to say the Raptor has fewer negatives, but also fewer positives. It is what it is. The EVO, on the other hand, has numerous negatives, but if you make some changes (all delrin gears, metal washout & radius block, freya tail, grease in auto hub, digital servos and a duralite), you've got a lot of positives that add up to a better flying, higher performance heli compared to the Raptor.
Beginners should stick with the Raptor IMO. |
