I came home with EVO50 kit with OS50 Hyper today.
Have bought SD-G yoke, hardened spindles, MPII, 2-9252s, DS8425, 9254, gy401... but still have something need to buy.
Thanks guys, I just love RR.

Been flying both for about 3 years. Crashed them both an equal number of times. Negatives for the Raptor are few considering what it is - an inexpensive, easy to build, fly and maintain r/c heli. I really can't bash the Raptor 50 except to say its performance envelope is narrow when compared to the EVO 50.

For the EVO, I concur with most all the negatives mentioned, plus two more: One, the aluminum center hub (0412-105) will most likely have to be replace after a couple of crashes. The Raptor's hub will take numerous crashes before needing to be replace.

Also, the EVO is heavier and does not auto as well as Raptor, especially inverted autos.

Another way to look at it is to say the Raptor has fewer negatives, but also fewer positives. It is what it is. The EVO, on the other hand, has numerous negatives, but if you make some changes (all delrin gears, metal washout & radius block, freya tail, grease in auto hub, digital servos and a duralite), you've got a lot of positives that add up to a better flying, higher performance heli compared to the Raptor.

Beginners should stick with the Raptor IMO.

Evo50 fly's a bit more precisely but the Raptor is far easier to keep going (easier to work on)

Speaking of flybars - I wish the EVO flybar had flats ground into it from the manufacturer. Would make it a LOT easier to replace when a crash occurrs. The Raptor flybar has these.

Honestly..

If a Raptor V2 is built correctly, the only downside is that you burn too much fuel having fun! All helis have weak and strong points, including MA!

simi34103 - You mention that the center hub on the Evo is more likely to need replacing after crashes than the Raptor. After a few crashes, isn't anything on the entire helicopter eligible for possible replacement? I'm sure Hirobo does the best they can in terms of durability vs. performance, but after a few crashes ANYTHING can happen to any item. Personally, I'd rather have a center hub that starts to go after a few crashes than the loose fitting head block on the Raptor just from normal flying.

I've built and flown both of these heli's and for my money the Evo wins the contest. There is enough of an in-flight feel difference (to me) to justify the extra expense of the Hirobo. Not to mention the Jeff Green factor for the U.S. based pilots

Raptors fly less accurately than Evo50's but the EVO50 is harder to keep going (harder to work on)

You are correct about many parts are suspect after a few crashes. I have replaced the Raptor hub only once though. Its been pretty durable. I've replaced the EVO hub several times, it seems to distort or lose its trueness easily. I say it is a negative for me because a blades and spindle crash on my Raptor would likely, but not always, be a blades, spindle and hub crash on my EVO (i.e. an extra $20).

Just get a Voyager 50 and spend boatloads of money for repair parts!!

Besides it's fun getting a radio lockout because a screw isn't tight enough on an all metal ship.

And yes I do own a V50.

Raptor 50's

1. Swashplate (whether the metal one or plastic one) is not good.
I replace it with Evolution's one.

2. No third bearing block. Again, I add the one with Evolution.

3. Tail vertial fin is too small. I replace it with the one for Raptor 60.
