My Posts This: Topic Forum | full scale crash..One of the guys I was with spent 15 minutes during his preflight video taping the heli. They sat on the ground running for quite some time, and then took off, turned towards the airfield, and then you could hear on the video the sound of what I would guess was a backfire maybe. The tape was taken by the sheriff to submit to NTSB I would guess, but it's supposed to be returned, so maybe we'll get to see it again. You don't actually see it hit the ground, but you see it disappear over the top of the hill and then the dust cloud when it hit. But you definitely can tell something went wrong mechanically by the sound of it. I find it amazing that you could even auto one of those if you wanted to, since the head speed seems so slow.. but then maybe that's why it ditched.
It truly was the culmination of the day when it happened.. all the big boys stickin their heli's in the ground, and then a full scale one.. Who would have thunk it??  |
