Ouch! I didnt mean to bash your price or anything, just curious!
And if they cost that much your price seems like a nice deal!

same thing here.

my 60B really kicks @ss on the 50.

Although, merely a few clicks on the high
needle has a drastic change on fuel consumption.

At least w/ high viscosity fuel. Will know more
when I go to a low visc. fuel.

I'm getting 10-12 minutes flying crazy with the 60B. I was getting no more than 7-8 with the 40E

The SuperTigre ST carb is the way to go. I've tried all the other carbs mentioned. Price vs. Performance... the ST is the way.

Has anyone tried to follow the specs

for the engine as as far as fuel/oil mix goes? None of the fuels we buy meet the specs. The engine specs say 20% oil. Some fuels have as high as 18% but most don't have even that much. I have an os 50 I havent' ran yet but I plan on using 20% oil for starters before I get into the carb.

what are you talking about? the 50sxh manual
clearly states 18% oil.

And in any case, any of the LV type fuels have
>20%, usually around 22-23.

Wildcat HV is also 18%. CP15 is 17%

hi guys,
i am about to purchase a hirobo evo 50 and intend ot use a os 50 engine.
question: can i use a os 60k carburettor that i have from a os90cspec engine? the 90 never worked properly and i am now using a ys91st4 . areal jewel of engine.

i also have a os 60b carburettor but it is almost 4 years old , from and old 60 engine . i am cautious about the 60b thinking that the o rings , seals may be leaking etc?

your advise would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
franz

In my book

in an older book, it states that the carb was adjusted at the factory using 20%oil mix.

In the newer 50SXH book, it says

"AT LEAST 18%", (exact words and capitalizations)

Later in the book, they give you approx. carb setting for a fuel containing 25% lubricant (page 15), hum, i wonder why?

call os, depeneding on the rep you get, they will tell you 20% oil.

Most of the fuel suppliers around here supply morgan fuels. (cool power, 17% oil)

As stated by a previous post here, a guy stated he is running 22% oil, an the engine runs great! mean while (an assumption here) the guys that are having problems, are they running what percent oil, probably less then that 22%. Therefore I will stick to my at least 20%. You know, I thought I just bring this up maybe possible it may help someone out or maybe come up with some answers other than filing the carb spray bar or buy a new carb.

My 0.02 cents...

I was running an standard unmodded OS50 (40E carb) & MP2 on 10% nitro and 20% Klotz synthetic oil and it kicked ass!!

Then I switched to a 60B and I lost a bit of punch, and some power... The engine did run a lot nicer and smoother and flighttimes where longer, but somehow I think that the 60B isn`t the way to go when you`re flying on low nitro fuels...

anyway, back to the 40E it is... for me

As for the oil, I`ve been running this engine on this mix (10% nitro, 20% Klotz synthetic oil) for over a year now @ 16k rpm and it`s very clean inside, still has the original bearings.... works like a charm

Cheers,

Richard

What % fuel are you running? I had all sorts of issues when I was running 15% and 20%, then when I switched to 30% all of my problems went away immediately. And I mean with the first tank of fuel. So if you have not tried 30%, I would strongly recommend it. Also, I would recommend that you run the engine on a test stand to adjust the engine and record the lean and rich locations of the main needle value.

You don`t live in Europe... that`s for sure! (CP30 = $40 a gallon)

Anyway, I mounted the 40E back on yesterday and did some Verrrrryyyy hard 3D today and Voila... flies like a bat from hell again
I`m flying on 10% nitro but I`m willing to put it against anyone on 30%.... I got the power

Again, I`m not saying the 60B isn`t good... but the 40E works best for ME, because the 60B made me lose power bigtime!! (Yes it was tuned right). I think that may have been caused by the (lack of) nitro, I dunnow... it just didn`t do for me what I expected

Cheers,

Rich

The OS Hyper stock carburetor runs perfect. I wouldn't pay $50.00 to get a replacement for it. In addition, it's very easy to tune.

I'm getting about 13 minutes at 1950, doing 3D. CP30% and Hatori SAB 5SR muffler.

Just a different point of view.
