My Posts This: Topic Forum | Rulers rule my friend. The metal edge inserts is for virtual indestructabilityI'm tired of spending $18-25 not including shipping for wood blades that last's 1-2 flights. Heck, those from helihobby cracked on a tip-over, those from Like90 snapped while flying into my fingers, another set snapped while landing from a 2 ft in the air. My MS 255 CF lasted 2-3 flights and went into the concrete after pitching forward when going to idle up, Oh by the way those were $57 inc. shipping. This week alone, I have gone through
($50 MS) + ($50 Like90 260s for 2 sets) + $Helihobby 262s @$18 (add $17 for shipping all of the items) = $135 in blades only this week alone during 5-6 flights.
The manufacturers have forced me to make a set of my own for ONLY $0.54 cents for a much more durable set.
Now back to the procedure.
Next you measure.

Cut Out Pattern
Remove Metal strip for sanding to desired airfoil.
Replace the strip after roughing with emory board and adding thin CA along the grove. (Very important for safety)
Use drill press to make a 3mm hole. The drill press will help ensure that your blades track properly.
Insert your brass inserts. You can use CA, but slow cure epoxy overnight is preferred.
Apply 1.5'' shrink wrap for more aggressive / consistent airfoil, security and durability.
Get a final weight and check for balance.
Mount your new ZIRBs "Zoom Inspired Ruler Blades" and fly baby.
Oh yeah, peep the lightened flybar paddles.
Disclaimer: Wood Rulers were not initially, nor intentionally created for helicopter use. These modifications/fabrications are strictly experimental and have not being fully tested in all aspects for safety. Should you decide to create these type of wood blades, you do so at your own risk.
