You did know that was going to happen right???

YUP!

Al definately makes a valid comment, chrome on Ally is really a waste of time...

Polished ally would have given a better finish, better longevity, and cost less...

I think I may take mine to a chromers and ask them to remove it, they will usually do it cheap as they get to keep the chrome...

Chrome is removeable and reuseable??

Chrome is electroplated... it can be removed by reversing the polarity...or removed chemically..

When you rechrome something you generally strip the old chrome off first and then start with bare metal...

The clunk line is 1/8" Neoprene and the rest is the standard Tygon.

Spent most of this afternoon designing a camera mount for this baby, and its shaped up quite nicely...

Might have to speak to Bergen about making the side frames as it could be a good alternative to the Observer

It is an ancient old shroud from when Bergen was using the Kault fan shroud. Just black plastic.

Hi Galifrey, just got my Intrepid , I just put the lower frames and gear on. In your last post you said something about the frames, are you going to make custom frames for the Intrepid? That would be cool, The g10 seems to be ok, but doesen't look as nice as carbon is there some reason that Bergen doesn't use carbon. just wondering.
also I'm happy I ordered the fiberglass canopy the lexan one that comes with it isn't that nice , at first I thought it was just a cover to protect the fiberglass one, that I do not think that wil;l ever go on my Intrepid. and big Yes on that canopy That is very cool

Joe,
Yes carbon fibre looks nice, but it has some problems when it comes to using it as helicopter frames. Namely, it cracks instead of bending, it does nothing to absorb vibrations, it conducts electricity (not good when you get loose aluminum bits vibrating against it), it doesn't save any weight over G-10, and it is more expensive.

Tell me againg why you would want a CF bird?

CF definately has it's place in the hobby, just not as sideframes.

I lived next to a guy who built custom fiberglass and carbon aircrafts and UAV's. conachenaircraft.com

He had a roll of "true" carbon woven cloth and the expense was astronomical. In order to make a plate of carbon, it would take so many layers, like 20 or so, thus making it extremely expensive.

I think manufacturers like xcell and such are using G10 for their frames with carbon woven in between and as an outer layer for looks. this keeps costs somewhat down. I think they are still a couple hundred dollars for their frames, but it would be much more if they were solid carbon fiber. someone else may correct me on this t hough.

I think someone should start painting the frames and see how that looks instead of going carbon...anybody painted them yet?

Hi Malorie,
Thanks, The model is going together very well. just about to install the engine, but I don't like the G26's choke, intake cover, where did you get the velocity stack in your carb.
sorry one more thing how is the bergen torpedo pipe, again the stock muffler is plain ugly ,does it effect the overall power
Thank you
