The main raffle prize for this year is a new Venture 30 helicopter complete with radio, servos, and engine. You do not need to be there to win.

I am not really sure. Usually any representative that wants to. We had John Steele from Bergen and Mike Trueblood from Minature Aircraft last year. We will be glad to put you on the list. You would probably get the award for longest distance driven. It is a fairly relaxed event and the flight stations are mostly open to whoever wants to fly. There is an unofficial "stage center" but we don't care if someone takes it and just hovers as long as helicopters are in the air all day. I hope to buddy box some novice pilots but I will probably end up using my own heli since trying to set up each heli may not be practical. I am trying to find other pilots that will do the same. Still working on getting a sim out there for the spectators also.

Havoc, perfect timing on telling me about the event. Us Bardstown guys were just talking about this sunday, so you may see us there. We don't do anything spectacular, but we have fun. Who knows, i might let you fly my Benzin Trainer around so i can at least see what it can do, until i get the nerve to do it myself.

BTW, off topic, and i don't mean to hijack. But August 13, 14, and 15 we are having a jet show at the Bardstown Airport, 5000'+ runway. Last i heard there should be around 50 jets in atendance, so you guys might want to come watch. $5 for adults, free children. A few weeks ago the boss and i "the boss in charge of the event, not the boss i'm married to" were talking about maybe having a helicopter demo flight, maybe you would be interested in preforming that?

I would really like to go to that but that is right on the IRCHA Jamboree. http://www.ircha.org/details.php?id=54. About five of us are already registered and have rooms. But I will help get the word out. I know there are a few guys getting into jets, including Lew Mcfarland.

Yeah, it was the only date they could secure. Bardstown airport is busy and they are shutting it down for 3 days for this event. I wanted to go to IRCHA as well.

Unless weather is bad or it is needed somewhere else, we are expecting the UK Medical Bell 230 to land at the event. It will not affect the flightline.

Also, sun will not be a problem until sometime around 4:00pm and we can shift the flightline to remedy that.

Food will be Hot dogs, hamburgers, pork chop sandwhiches, baked beans, and drinks.

Noon demos

I am told Zak Johns (MAH, Minature Aircraft, Duralite Plus Batteries) and John Steele (Bergen) will be among the heli demos, and Buddy Hale (Futaba and a million others) will do a plane demo that can even impress heli pilots plus we make him work the impound for bringing that thing out to a heli event .

Autorotation prize is at least $100 so far.

If it is like the last two years you only know at about 10:30am that day. We will have some nice prizes again this year also. Both pilots and spectators are given a chance at winning the G2 simulator. The sim is one ticket per person and does not cost anything to enter. We expect a lot more spectators this year. The media coverage will be unusual this year. No fear. Most have never seen a heli fly so they will be impressed if you don't crash. They will be more impressed if you do crash. You can't lose.

Here is some info on the field layout

We will have three pilot stations that will look like this:

|infinity|----Pilot-----|150'|-----Pilot-----|150'|------Pilot-----|infinity|

The right station has a hill off to the right so it actually feels a little small but it is well suited for hovering and tuning and the basics. The left station is wide open. The center is 300' so that should give everyone a good 3D/Scale/etc box with some breathing room. All flight stations will be in line with each other this year and we will not utilize the crosswind until the sun gets into view around 4:00pm. We are flexible and can change any of this to ensure everyone gets to do plenty of flying and in the style they want to fly in. We don't care what you do as long as you fly safe and respect the other pilots. We don't care if you can only hover and maybe we can help you do more. All we want is some type of activity in the air at all times.
