Turn Aux4 Knob For Speed
TOP

GV-1 Governor Manual (2.97MB)
The governor speed is controlled by the Aux4 knob. The speed is variable between 1500 and 1900. The governor turns on with stunt-mode 1 or 2 (idle-up and above idle limit). The throttle hold switch turns the gov off (because hold turns off idle up).

Connection - Channels - Programing The GV-1 has a wire lead to turn it on and off (I use Aux-2 channel). When the wire lead is electrically turned on the GOV then the waits for the throttle servo to increase past the Gov programed idle setting. Only once the throttle is above the programed idle setting will the Gov engage. Set this higher than the heli's idle state. I say half way between idle and hover. The Gov will not turn off until the wire lead is turned off. The wire lead is plugged into one of your receivers channels. See wiring diagram below.

Prog Mix2 Prog Mix2 is use to turn gov on/off.
This example shows Aux5 telling the Aux2 channel what to do (idle up turns gov on)

GV-1 Programing

Governor ON Conditions
The following conditions must be met before the governor takes over.
1-Governor on/off switch set to on position.
2-Throttle stick position above idle limit setting by 20% or more.
3-Engine speed running at 70% or more of governor speed setting.

Governor Off Conditions
1-Governor on/off switch set to off position
2-Sensor failure.

RPM information screens.

These three speed settings are used with a three position switch or a variable knob.

Limit Settings.
I think the idle limit setting should be close to half way between idle and hover.  This would allow you to keep the governor on continuously (idle-up) when shooting autos (no jerking the engine).

Hi Mark

I don't understand the programming. Mix 2 uses Aux 5 as input to Aux 2, but I can't see where Aux 5 input comes from. Also the Function Sel screen shows Aux 2 Inhibited. Wouln't you want this to be active so you can use Sw Aux 2 to turn the Gov on/off?

I am not saying that it will not work, I am trying to understand how it works because I am having trouble making mine work.

Your receiver is not the problem, I had the same problem also using a 950. I made some changes but have not flown it since. My TH would over ride the GV-1 and shut it down but my first two attempts, the GV-1 would kick in and stay engaged until TH was hit. I'm puzzled too. Even though the GV-1 showed on the bench it was beening switch on and off. Were going to get rain for a few days after that I will give it another try. If I have good results I will post my settings.

GV1 Problem/question

GV1 Gov. will not let go during throttle hold. While on the bench all works as advertised; however, as soon as the head is on line the GV1 runs the throttle up even if the switch is off. I "INH" the Gov in the Radio and all works great but can't figure out the problem. I'm sure It's set-up but I've read a few threads on the topic and I'm not the only one with this problem anybody figured this out?

Gidday Mark

MARK.
I am in the proses of building my Fury Extreme YS80 JR version. I read your post on setting up the GV1-PCM10, looks great.
I have the PCM 10 SX which has been upgraded to SXII.
As I only have 5 days off work, will you or any one reading this post help me speed up my set-up process by looking at my electronics list. My problem is I cannot figure out how to set-up GV1 and CSM540 together on this radio. CSM on its own, no problem. But GV1 and CSM, AAARRRGGGH. If you or any one has simular electronics, I have a DATASAFE but it will only work if it is SXII-SXII transfer. Your set-up can be copied to DATASAFE software and then emailed to anyone.
My electronics:
1x GV 1 Futaba Governor with accessories
1x JR CSM 540 Gyro
1x JR 8700G Tail Servo
1x JR DS 811 Throttle Servo
3x JR PS8231 Collective/Cyclic Fwd, Aft/Cyclic Left, Right.
1x JR Dual Conv R1000DS receiver. RX, TX crystal 36.310
1x NiCad C-cell 2400ma Battery
1x Switch Good quality JR gold.
1x On Board Battery Monitor ( BC6 If possible )
Any and all help will be much appreciated.

Re: futaba Governor

JR does not offer a governor. Mixing JR and Futaba to obtain the best results works just fine.

JR 10X and GV1

RX channels

Thro = GV-1 Throttle
Aux 4 = GV-1 Aux RPM
Aux 3 = gyro sensitivity - use code 44 to adjust
Gear = GV-1 on/off
GV-1

rS1 = 1550
rS2 = 1650
rS3 = 1750
SWPt = It should show On or Off depending on your gear switch postion
StSw = On or Off depending on your throttle stick position - not inhibited
Ensure you set your limits correctly - I found my idle had to be set with the stick just below 1/4 stick in order to get the governor to shut-off correctly. You need to ensure your throttle curves in stunt 1 and 2 never drop below the governor off setting - you can check this through the SWCd screen which shows the governor condition for the current switch and stick settings so play with the switches and throttle in each flight mode to ensure the screen says 'off' when you want the governor off
TX mixes

Code 51 = Gear-Aux4 (-100% +0%, no offset)
assign this to the flight modes you require by pressing the 'page' button on the mix screen
Code 52 = Gear-Aux4 (+0% +0%, no offset)
assign this to the flight modes you require by pressing the 'page' button on the mix screen
Code 53 = Gear-Aux4 (+100% +0%, no offset)
assign this to the flight modes you require by pressing the 'page' button on the mix screen
Code 44 = Auto, values are whatever gain settings you want
Assign the values to flight modes by pressing the 'Page' button
This gives me:

Auto selection of head speed with flight mode through the Aux
Manual selection of governor on/off is with Gear switch
Adjustment of head speed through Aux 4 pot
Auto selection of gyro sensitivity with flight mode
Governor shuts down when throttle output is below about 30% or using the Gear switch

Instead of using all 51, 52, 53 mixes, you could use 56 mix= #FMODE-Aux4 (-33%,0%,+33%) assign this to all flight mode

Depends if you want to use code 44 for what it was meant

BTW, how are you finding the TJ ? Did you have a GV-1 before ? Do you miss any features, such as the failsafe, the throttle override, or the different methods of activating the governor ?
