 | Advertising Policy | |
RunRyder only accepts advertising from product manufacturers or their authorized
representatives. Products or services must be related to RC helicopters. No off
topic advertising will be accepted.
Each advertiser
gallery is allowed linkage to
only one base domain. The gallery member’s name is typically related to this
domain name. Advertisers are encouraged to place many ads in rotation with each
linking to a product page within the one domain.
Links to outside websites or ads which advertise other websites not
related to the base domain (such as Facebook) are not allowed.
After an advertiser makes over one hundred posts, their homepage and gallery link
is turned off.

 | Site Usage Rules Vendor Specific - Cornerstone of RR Success | |
The enforcement of RR's vendor marketing policy is RR's top priority.
This policy distinguishes RR from all other forums and is responsible for the
site's success.
Vendor online marketing revolves around two choices:
- Display advertising.
- Hire Reps to influence discussions.
Reps will not be allowed to influence discussions by creating topics or posts that enhance
the brands or products they represent. Rep posting and responses are to be of technical nature only.
RunRyder’s #1 problem is backdoor marketing via forum posts.
This activity puts the site’s success and appeal at stake.
There are four areas that can be used to facilitate unpaid advertising when creating posts:
- Member name – Excessive posting using a company name.
- The message – On topic response ok, but references to product or service availability NOT ok.
- Profile signature block – Company affiliation OK but without URL or contact specifics.
- Profile home page link – If you are an advertiser, your home page link will
be turned off after your 100th post.
By design, RR management does not follow or read along with the tens of
thousands of monthly postings but relies on member feedback. If you see a Rep
violating policy, please click
Attn: RR
on the post, or
pmRR.
Since 2001 this site's discussions have been end user driven.
RunRyder Dot Com LLC develops and maintains fast paced, special interest discussion forums
and derives it's operating income from the sale of third party display advertising.
RunRyder invests heavily in the continued development of it’s discussion environment,
providing the most appealing experience for all involved.
Mission statement: Provide an open and free forum for end users to
share and discuss their insight and experience. Allow vendors to answer post
sale tech support questions. Provide vendors with an effective platform for
promotion of product or service via paid display advertising.
Definition of a Representative: Anyone that develops a pattern of
product promotion. RR reserves the right to block this promotion
(no
anarchy - no
spam).
Vendors must account for and be in control of their contractually obligated marketing agents.
RunRyder and the flying field are not the same.
Membership breaks down as follows:
- 99% = true hobbyist
- 1% = compensated insider
The 1% will have their promotional cheerleading (spam) kept in check regardless of
post contributions. To do this, RunRyder has developed new functionality to allow
vendors and their reps to post (or create new) within their respective forums under
the new
category system.
No Anarchy - No Spam
In summary, RR is about the true end user sharing and discussing his or her modeling
experience. Site economics dictates that commercial promotion and selling will be done
through paid display advertising. Selling via posts will be limited to just (2) posts
a month for
current advertisers.
 | RunRyder Advertisers - Only Two Marketing Posts a Month | |
Current RunRyder advertisers are only allowed to create
2 topics (posts) per month for marketing.
Follow up posts will be of technical nature only. They will not include product
links or photos, or be used for continued promotion or bumping. The opening topic
post can be edited to insert additional links, photos, videos and/or clarification.
The
CLASSIFIEDS - Vendors forum is specifically for
advertisers's marketing topics. Topics orginally created in other forums, such as the
Main Discussion, will be moved to this forum after 2 days.
RunRyder will
pink an advertiser's
marketing posts if they exceed two per month. Pink posts are a warning.
If the pink post warning is ignored, RunRyder will lock out the advertiser out from
making new posts.
No matter who you are, and to save valuable time, most RR moderating actions
will happen without discussion. RR does not favor any vendor and will not grant favors
rrAdvertisers should
use their (2) monthly marketing posts wisely.
Advertising banners do the selling, not your postings.
It is highly recommended that advertisers keep their ad images fresh. RR has developed
an effective ad rotation system via your
MY GALLERY.
 | RunRyder Statistics | |
RunRyder statistics are real, and any
implication
that they are not will be considered slander and be addressed with extreme diligence.
Statistics will always be available to RunRyder members (home page bottom left).
http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/rr/stats.htm
Of all the major sites involved, RunRyder has the most realistic online count.
Member to guest ratios are factual. The underlying RR session management engine
was written from scratch and presents accurate statistics.
 | Site Login Statistics Tutorial | |
The login statistics record unique logins, not duplicates. So if someone logs in
twice in a particular time period, the login count is not incremented. Take a
look at the statistics (or the picture of the stats that I uploaded to my gallery below)
and notice that in the last 24 hours, 4441 logins were reported, but in the last
7 days, 7409 logins were reported. Surely today didn't have that much of a surge
(4441*7 = 31087). In the last 7 days, 10424 were recorded which is even more out of line.
Instead of counting the individual logins, RunRyder must be counting the amount
of "last logins" that occurred in the time period specified.
This statistic is actually a true statistic of how many contributing members
visit the site in a specific period of time. And contributing members are people
that are definitely interested in rc helicopters because they took the time to
register. These are not people who are just passing through.
Also, keep in mind that this statistic does not take into account the amount of
guests that frequent the site.
